My Work & Life Philosophy

I live my life and practice psychotherapy within the philosophical underpinning that we humans are a result of our unique history, experiences, and dreams. Everyone of us have our own set of relational, emotional, behavioral and psychological problems in various degrees and different times of our lives – that is part of being human. However we also have our own unique set of strengths, skills, and natural talents.

As a therapist I seek to discover and help you employ these strengths to conquer life problems and create a happy contented life.

Who I Can Best Serve

The majority of my clients are from referrals from past or present clients. I am best suited for you if you are looking for an experienced, no nonsense, easy psychotherapist with excellent empathy, listening, and clinical skills to help and guide without judgement or bias.

How I Work and What I Do

I maintain a small practice because I want to give you my personal, individual and focused attention from our very first contact. When you contact me, I respond personally and quickly to you.

I know that it takes courage to seek help so when you do reach out I want you to have a good experience. For this reason I offer a free phone consultation before the start of any therapy. I believe that the client – therapist relationship is crucial for good and effective therapy. So before we mutually agree to work together, you will have a chance to determine if I ‘feel right’ for you. I will also be able to determine whether I have the right qualifications, training and experience to effective help you. During this consultation you will be able to ask questions and gather information about myself and my practice.

If it is mutually agreed that I am a good fit for you we will then proceed to schedule the first. This first appointment is usually the week.

I provide therapy in a supportive and relaxed setting with an approach at honoring your individual strengths with respect and dignity.

Here is a small sampling of what is possible when we work together:

  1. Teach you the skills to quickly make a positive difference in your life
  2. Collaborate with you to create individualized solutions for the problems and dilemma you face.
  3. Utilize techniques and protocols I am trained in from the several
therapeutic treatment approaches to help you control and manage:

    • psychological pain
    • pain of negative emotions
    • self-defeating thoughts and ideas
    • blocks towards the progression of a functional & balanced life
    • communication with significant others in your life
    • conflict so you can move towards resolution
    • a sense of self-worth, competence, self-reliance, and self-acceptance

In my work with you, I will look for your unique strengths and approach you with the belief that you can and will make positive changes. In therapy a two pronged approach is best.

I utilize depth-oriented therapies to address the past and the unconscious. Often, thinking back on the past may evoke feelings of isolation, pain, shame, betrayal, abandonment, regret, anger and resentment to name a few negative feelings. And while we can’t change difficult, traumatic, and painful events of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve negative feelings so that they do not create challenges in your present.

Solution focused therapies are practical and focused on addressing and resolving current problems and dilemmas.

The combination of these two therapies will guide you into making peace with the past, gaining the awareness necessary to reclaim a strong sense of balance, self-worth, and resiliency while developing the tools necessary for a more functional and contendted present and future.

My training is deeply rooted in systems therapy, which means I will help you identify relationships and patterns in your life that may be causing you distress.
